The Little School of Waldwick is definitely the best preschool around. Both my niece and nephew went there and are both ahead of the learning curve now. We started sending my daughter this year and she absolutely loves it. She enjoys going to school everyday to see her teachers and friends. Any parent would be lucky to find The Little School of Waldwick for their child. Having experienced another preschool with my oldest child (now at TLS) I now know that not all preschools are created equal. For my children, TLS has been an amazing environment -- a day of flowing through theme-based classrooms leaves little room for toddler distractions and the children come away with real learning experiences that set a crucial foundation for the future. The teachers are incredibly caring, enthusiastic, and goal-driven; and director Maria Stavrou is a true thought-leader for education. My two children attended the Little School of Waldwick. First of all, when I walked in I was amazed. The school looked like a country club for children ! It was colorful, big, with great play areas, both inside and out, and on top of everything else, it is immaculate ! The teachers are warm and very professional. The projects my children did at the school were amazing. They were so prepared for kindergarten, they could even read. This is THE place to take your children !— Patricia Besso
Our son entered The Little School in 2009 and as he graduated this spring, we could not be happier with how far he had come both academically and socially. When I first toured The Little School and met with the school director, Maria Stavrou, and her staff, I knew I came to the right place. Her passion for education, her enthusiasm and commitment to the children under her care, and her cheerful and warm personality truly permeates through the school and her wonderful teaching staff do mirror and share that enthusiasm and you can tell that they truly care about what they do. It isn’t just a job, it’s a calling! We strongly recommend the school to all parents looking for a good preschool where your children will not only learn so much but also be very well taken care of. We feel so fortunate to have discovered the Little School of Waldwick. What an amazing place. Our daughter has been there for 2 years and we do not want her to graduate! It is such a creative environment with multiple, themed rooms which the children circulate throughout each day - and the teachers and director Maria S. make every child feel so special and loved. The Little School was an extension our family. Not only did they always feel loved, they were challenged to try new things. They developed a love for learning that cannot be replaced. My favorite story is the anatomy project. At 5, the entire class created paperbag "bodies" with a set of lungs, stomach and bladder, veins, etc. made of plastic bags and strings. They could blow in a straw and make the lungs blow up or drop a nickel down to the stomach. One day in the summer, the kids were playing doctor. My 5 year old took a marker and drew all the parts on my younger son's back. I couldn't believe he remembered it months later. The neighbor saw what he did and said, "That kid's going to be a doctor!"— Lisa Cassidy
The Little School is, by far, the BEST and ONLY place to have your child begin his/her school life. My 2 boys went there years ago - the formed their love of school and gained their sense of being and self-confidence. Through song and crafts and computers, they learned about "Voting" on Election Day, the "Mayflower" on Thanksgiving and "Hibernation" in the winter, just to name a few. Everything done at The Little School is done with a Pop and a Wow. Just walking inside, you take in the cleanliness, the "family" feel, the fun and the love. It's like The Disneyland of schools. Go to other schools first. Then come to The Little School - you will feel like you are coming home. I still have every single craft made by my boys - they are my gifts from The Little School. The Little School of Waldwick is by far the best preschool/daycare out there. It offers a full educational curriculum while the children play all day long. I have my 3rd child there now who is thriving as well as my 2 older boys did while in attendance. My boys both read early and gained a lot of confidence both academically and socially which I wholly attribute to the Littke School. My daughter Katiya had gone to The Little School for 3 years and she LOVED it. She came home everyday and shared something new that she had learned. She had grown & matured so much within days, weeks, and months from the experience that, that school has taught her, it was AMAZING!!!! Maria and the staff have showed so much love to my daughter, they were like our extended family. I also loved the anatomy project. All the holidays that they taught the children was superb. The little school has changed are lives in so many ways,I could not believe all the different things they do for my son. From spelling and reading(that's right reading and he' just turned five) to all the little shows the kids put on for us. He all ways tells me about his teachers and the fun things they do together. makes me wish I went to a school like this when I was five, But even better my son gets to. We absolutely LOVE the Little School of Waldwick. I recommend this preschool to everyone I know. I have sent both of my children there and can not give everyone there enough praise. They are so loving and caring my children love going to school everyday and come home bragging about all of the wonderful things they have learned. I cannot say enough positive things about the Little School of Waldwick. Our son was at another local preschool where he was painfully shy and introverted. They did not know how to handle him so the teachers basically ignored him. I found the Little School and from day one they transformed my son's preschool experience. The teachers and staff have been so patient, caring, attentive and creative and it has made all the difference. He loves going to school now and is thriving both academically and socially. The ultimate compliment...We love the Little School so much we are actually paying to keep our son there this year for kindergarten instead of sending him to kindergarten at a Ridgewood public elementary school. I agree the Little School is really "Bergen's Best -Kept Secret". This school is awesome, from the Mother's Day Tea Party, Donuts With Dads(Father's Day), the Circus Show, Movie Nights (1 night per month), Thanksgiving Show just to name a few. The Little School of Waldwick is truly a one of a kind experience! I walked into the little school a year ago and was blown away. I have never seen a nursery school quite like this. Every room in the school is based on a theme and I'm telling you the room set up, with large murals and designs, etc will take your breath away. It's simply incredible! The education is top-notch. My child is 4 years old and will write 2 or 3 whole sentences by herself. She knows how to do basic math, she can read small words, and has an understanding of ALL subject areas. I can guarantee that my daughter will excel in Kindergarten because of what she learned in the little school. She looks forward to school everyday and truly has a love for learning. Mrs. Maria, the director, is an absolute pleasure to work with. She and her staff are extremely knowledgeable about each age group and are beyond willing to work with the parents and students as well. I would recommend this school to everyone and would certainly be a reference for anyone that is considering The Little School! It's a MUST SEE school that's for sure!— Genie M.
Small classes, bigger results should be the motto for The Little School of Waldwick as its nurturing atmosphere is perfect for children. With its exceptional staff, no child is forgotten while gaining the necessary confidence in becoming a valuable member of the society. Also, the children learn to work together and be productive. My twin girls are students at The Little School of Walkwick, and I can say that there are probably other pre-schools that are very good, there is no school that is better than The Little School. The owner and teachers ensure that each child learns globally as well as specifically depending on the child's needs. The productions -- thanksgiving show, winter show, and annual circus to name a few -- provide the children with a wonderful learning experience and self-esteem. The learning environment is fun and supportive. Our children look forward to going to school, and have grown tremendously. Letter and number recognition, vocabulary, well-rounded knowledge, coloring, attention, focus, etc. I cannot say enough.— Michael Epstein
My three children have all been students at The Little School and are so well prepared for elementary school that it almost seems as if they were home-schooled. In fact, Maria, the director, and the extraordinary teachers treat every single student with love and personalized attention which fortifies their strengths and gently addresses the needs of every child in each area where he or she requires a little extra help. My granddaughters are both very bright but were immature at the time that they were ready to go to pre-school. After their first year at the Little School they were not only even brighter-but they had matured incredibly. The teachers did a wonderful job. They are very gentle with the kids and readily praise them. The projects and art work that I see sent home are just wonderful. Little School of Waldwick is FANTASTIC! Both children attended for 2 years each prior to Kindergarten. They were well prepared for their elementary education. Mrs. Maria & staff are wonderful. The Little School of Waldwick is an amazing place where enthusiastic, caring teachers instruct and guide in a creative, nurturing, and fun-filled environment. Fostering creativity is impotant to me at this stage. As soon as you step foot in TLS, you will see how Mrs. Maria and her dedicated staff of teachers have created a magical, inspiring place for children to enjoy and thrive while learning. The Little School of Waldwick is the best nursery school out there. The director, Miss Maria does a super job with her program. Her children do all sorts of terrific projects as a group, like building a cave for polar bears while at the same time learning all about winter animals. She puts on grand show, like a circus at the end of the year and a mother's day brunch. Once you walk into the school, you'll see what I mean. It's a spectacular place for kids. The little School of Waldwick is the best preschool in the area. My children thrived there and were more than ready for kindergarten. The Little School of Waldwick is a terrific school. The director, Ms. Marie is a wonderful person who is dedicated, caring and enthusiastic about creating a nuturing environment for children to learn and develop. The staff at the Little School are great with the kids. They are attentive and provide wonderful learning experiences. They offer many enrichment programs and fun activities for the kids to participate in. They make learning fun and exciting. My little boy is always so eager to go to school and learn. If you want a premiere nursery school for your child, then go to the Little School of Waldwick. I toured quite a few school before my wife and I chose them. We thought they had the best facilities and most courteous staff. We were right. Having been there two years now, this school amazes us all the time. They put on great holiday festivities and have THE most amazing circus, with the children participating as the show people, at then end of the school year. Terrific school.
